Place the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in a bowl. Mix well with a whisk.
In another bowl, add the brown sugar and the egg. Beat with a whisk very well and add the melted butter. Mix and then add the pomegranate syrup and the hot water. Continue mixing so that the egg does not separate.
Then sift the solid ingredients into the bowl with the liquid ingredients and mix.
In a small blender, break the walnuts into small pieces and add them to the mixture.
Transfer to a tray with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 190 degrees for 30 minutes.
For the frosting
Add all the ingredients into the mixer bowl and beat with the whisk until you have a smooth texture.
Transfer to a pastry bag.

50g mascarpone
1tbsp vanilla essence
100g icing sugar
